Kafana the Most Important Institution of the Serbs

"Građanska kasina" (Civil Casino") was the place where the stock market was founded. Serbian volunteers recruited for the Front of Srem in "Zlatni konj" ("Golden Horse"), and the first book fair was organized in "Kolarac".

Sibling sister of the famous Bajloni, the tanner, a Czech woman who was married in Serbia advised her brother who wanted to leave for America that there is no better America for him than Serbia. Bajloni listened to his sister, came to Belgrade, opened a brewery and advice turned out to be more than useful.

The tanner bacomes the famous boss- tells Vidoje Golubović, a doctor and an author of the book "Mehane i kafane starog Beograda" ("Taverns and kafanas of the old Belgrade"), while stretched out in a comfortable armchair in the restaurant of the "Balkan" hotel, a few hours before the promotion of his new book.
