The „Аlbanija“ ("Albania") Kafana
The "Albanija" (also, "Albania" in English) kafana, together with a clock which was standing in front of it, was a centre of gathering of the town's bohemians and passers-by for decades. A nondescript house which standed for a mockery and was, as described by Branislav Nušić, "El Dorado to all of its renters". The "Albanija" kafana brought a high profit, and different layers of society gathered there, from clerks to street cleaners. After its demolition, in 1936, it was sung with praise and shown into a history with full honours, leaving behind its name.
