Kafana as a Rescue

As written by Golubović in the book "Mehanas and kafanas of the old Belgrade", and as entrusted to his friends one night by Veselinović himself in the "Tri šešira" ("Three Hats") kafana, kafana saved Janko Veselinović's life.

One rainy night, a decayed beam which held the roof over the poet's bed, fell on the bed. The poet wasn't hurt since this accident happened before midnight, when he was at "Skadarlija".

Anyway, Janko Veselinović was a writer, an associate editor of the "Srpske novine" newpaper ("Serbian Newspaper"), a proofreader of  "Državna štamparija" ("National Press"), a dramaturge of "Narodno pozorište" ("National Theatre"), a founder and  an editor of  the "Zvezda" newspaper ("Star"), an editor of the following newspapers "Pobratim" ("Blood-brother") and "Dnevni list" ("Daily Newspaper"). A narrator, a romantic, a playwright.
